Seems CC is exploring a license that will facilitate data sharing. I'm:
1- Really excited about this.
2- Trying to figure out what it will look like.
Thoughts?

Re: Science Commons?
Fri, May 7, 2004 - 12:14 PMI find the idea exciting too, thanks for posting the link.
As a scientist, I am becoming more disturbed aboutethe increase in inaccessible data. It i s not clear to me what they are trying to do concretely, and how data licensing will fit in with requirements of federal research sponsers and publishers

Fri, August 27, 2004 - 5:29 PMHmmm... I too cant wait to see how this organization shapes up.
I just got notice (in the form of a rejection letter :) stating that they found an executive director. Does anyone know who it is?

Re: Science Commons?
Sat, August 28, 2004 - 5:42 PMI hope this flies also. I think the price tag they put on scientific journals is so prohibitive. If you can't get to a university library, you have to be rich to keep up. As an amateur mathematician on a "poorman's" budget, this is just so much bunk.
I know John Baez has also sounded the alarm on the excessively high prices of scientific journals. The stuff on the Internet is cool if you can get to it, but some of it also costs a fortune.
